18 - 25 Toasmasters meet for two hours on Monday evenings twice a month.
We have 3-4 speeches each evening, lasting usually 7 minutes. They can be on any topic and are usually fascinating! Each speech is evaluated, this is a positive, helpful opinion which includes at least one constructive suggestion.
Topics: We each take a turn thinking of questions or topics, and have a session at the meeting where the "Topicsmaster" throws out a question to people who have not spoken at the meeting. This helps us to learn to think on our feet, and is great practice for interviews. Many people find they go blank... but it gets easier with practice. New members and visitors tell us when they feel ready to join in!
More on the prepared speeches
These are based on projects from the Toastmasters International Manuals. Each speech works on a particular skill. As you move through the programme your skills build. Project speeches include areas such as speech organisation, voice, language, gestures, and persuasion. While your speech develops a specific area of your skills, the subject is completely up to you.
We meet every second and fourth Monday of the month- have a look at the Events Calendar on this page or on Meetings Page, for details of all meetings. Visitors are always welcome
Admission is free for guests so come along and experience Sligo Toastmasters first-hand.

Every Toastmaster journey begins with a single speech...
We learn to tell our stories. We listen and answer. We plan and lead. We give feedback and accept it.
We are a community of learners, and we find our own path to leadership.
